The Bambu Spring hospital is in Bundaberg’s northern suburbs and is being operated by a private contractor, the Hospital Commission, operated by Medibank.

“It will cover half of the facility’s needs and it’s being constructed over the next two years, so over two-and-a-half years, if that is funded, the facility will be in the right hands to address any excess and capacity issues and the need to reduce waiting lists,” he said.

He says the Government will make sure those unable to be taken care of within the hospital will be brought back to Bundaberg.
